Become a Sperm Donor
Do you want to help others achieve their dream of a family? Become a sperm donor and make a meaningful difference. Our professional clinic in Stockholm offers supportive, friendly guidance. Your donation can help fulfill another family's deepest wish for a child.

Sperm Donation
There can be many reasons for wanting to become a sperm donor. Most do it because they want to help involuntarily childless couples and single women. Perhaps you know someone who has had difficulty having children. Or maybe you wish to help with what many people desire the most. A completely unique gift of life.
One of the benefits of becoming a sperm donor is that you receive a thorough health check and a sperm analysis, completely free of charge. You are also financially compensated for each approved donation.
Testing For Sperm Donation
It's crucial that all donors are healthy. Therefore, we conduct a thorough health examination and basic screening of all our donors before approval. This screening consists of interviews, infection tests, genetic tests, a medical examination, and a sperm sample.
Before sperm donation, blood and urine are tested for the following:
INFECTIOUS DISEASES | GENETIC TESTS |
|
|
About six months after your first donation, a new blood test is taken to rule out HIV I/II, HTLV I/II, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. During this time, the sperm is kept in quarantine to ensure that no potentially infected sperm is used. As soon as we have received the test results and confirmed that they show no form of infection, the sperm is made available for donation, and you are financially compensated for the donation.
Step-by-Step Sperm Donation Process
Our clinic, where you leave your sample, is centrally located on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.
Application
First, you need to express your interest by filling out the form. If you have questions, use the forms here or contact us at 076-941 74 00 on weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00 or email liviospermbank@livio.se. Our donation coordinator will call you to review the process and your health declaration.
Sperm analysis & donor introduction
After approval of your health declaration, your first visit for sperm sampling is scheduled. Provide your name at reception and bring valid ID. We'll ask about your last ejaculation (which should be between 48 and 72 hours before your visit).
You'll receive a container for your sample, and we'll show you to a private room. We'll contact you within a week if your sperm quality meets our donor requirements.
Doctor's visit, blood and urine tests
After approving your sperm sample, we'll contact you with information about blood and urine tests and provide a health declaration to complete and return. You can take these tests at your nearest health center or at our clinic during regular hours. We'll contact you within two weeks with your results. If all tests are approved, you'll be called for a visit and consultation with one of our doctors at Livio Kungsholmen.
Consultation with a behavioral scientist
All medically approved donors must also consult with a behavioral scientist for final approval. This can be in person or digitally. It's important that you have an altruistic attitude towards donating and understand what it means for yourself, your future, and your private relationships.
Donation begins
After completing these steps, you're approved as a donor and your sperm can be distributed to patients. We compensate donors with 610 SEK per approved donation. We desire each sperm donor to donate multiple times.
Regulations for Becoming a Sperm Donor
According to Swedish legislation, a child conceived through egg or sperm donation must have the opportunity to discover their genetic origin at a mature age. Therefore, the donor's information will be archived at Livio Sperm Bank. In cases where the child wishes to seek their genetic origin, Livio Sperm Bank will always contact you beforehand, so you are prepared.
A sperm donor in Sweden may, according to Swedish law, give rise to children in a maximum of 6 families.
The most important aspects of the law that you as a donor need to know:
"A child born through sperm donation has the right, if they have reached sufficient maturity, to obtain information about the donor recorded in the hospital's special journal. The Social Welfare Board is obliged to assist the child in obtaining this information upon request."
The donor signs a consent form allowing donated sperm to be used for fertilization outside the body, and thus the donor has no legal rights or obligations towards any potential future children.

Reimbursement for Sperm Donation
As a sperm donor, you are financially compensated for each donation you make, but according to Swedish law, donation must be done altruistically. This means that as a donor, you give of your own free will, with the purpose of helping someone else and without financial gain. The financial compensation you receive is intended to compensate for your travel time and any potential loss of income due to visits and trips to the clinic.
